Sonic Boom
The idea behind the Sonic Boom is that it is supposed to be an experimental prototype weapon developed by STAG that the Saints use for… … well I don’t want to spoil things. Let’s just say that they end up using it in a way that it was probably not intended to be used.
While it was fun to design, model and texture, the Sonic Boom really comes together with the help of design, FX, audio and animation. Once animation got a hold of it the thing really came to life. Now the arms move independently in its idle state and really giving it a feeling of force when you release the trigger. The FX artist created an amazing sonic effect and an awesomely gruesome gibs explosion that also lends to the feeling that there is a lot of force behind the weapon. But my favorite thing about the weapon is the sounds it makes. Whether charging or firing, it is truly a unique and satisfying sound.
Extra Development Facts:
- A fully charged sonic blast will move cars, bring down low-flying helicopters, fling props across the world, and completely obliterate organic life forms.
- When used in co-op, a properly charged sonic blast can be used to play human baseball as seen in Cherished Memory #3. "
